Easy to book, good value for money. Used as stop over for Cornish break. Friendly staff. Games room ideal for teenagers. Also lounge room to watch tv/rest. Enjoyed a game of Cluedo! Plenty of shower rooms. Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. Would stay again.

I rated this 5 because although there may be in perfections at times, usually they are put right or compromised if mentioned & all of the staff usually are extremely helpful. Sometimes above & beyond. We have visited twice here. At first we camped. The last time we got a room & also camped. The hostel is next to the train station. So good access for non drivers. Oakhampton is a lovely little town with a great park and river walk and directly on the edge of Dartmoor national park. Turn left from the yha and take the left gate from the road & then the right path, go over the flyover and off you go into Dartmoor national park. The hostel gives you and your child opportunity to make friends and meet other families from all over the world. It is relaxed with a games room for families.Alternative showers and toilets, a shared equipped kitchen and dining room are available for campers and room guests. Although rooms are en suite. There is also a large campfire area to use. Breakfast is free for a child with each paying adult (who can get unlimited breakfast). It is very nice and sets you up for the day. The cycle hire shop is now on site and the granite cafe is also available all day long. There are other activities that can be booked for child/children and lots of maps and areas to visit depending on how you travel and your interests. There is a bus to town or coach outside the train station or you can walk the scenic path into town through Simmons park, which when you figure out the best route isn't as steep. For the adults, there is also a fridge bar. I recommend you buy a beer by 8/9 p.m to ensure you get one.😁 Camping can be enjoyable. However, I think I/ we would be more of a roomie. The campsite is very nice and clean though and so quiet you can here everything which is usually wildlife.

The reception staff was very welcoming!|I found that the selfcatering kitchen was way to small when the hostel is full and when guests are asked to wash up and dry the kichen equipment straight away there has to be plenty of clean tea …

First the bedding did not smell clean. Too many bunk beds for such a small room with so many people sleeping and breathing in it when the window does not open enough to ventilate properly. When I walked into the room smelt like an old mans sock. Out of all yha hostels I would say its the worst I have staed in. The toulets and floors were very clean. Showers downstairs awful. Anna at reception was very helpful. I found the inside of the hostel sterile and not very cosy or welcoming

What a gem of a YHA site. The rooms are basic but clean, the staff friendly and the location perfect for rail and Dartmoor (on foot). Our kids (both under 7) loved the bunkbeds and the breakfast as well

Second stay here this year and more than happy with facilities for a family half term break. We had a private room with ensuite which was ideal for 2 adults, 2 children (14 &9). Whilst the bedroom got a bit stuffy with 4 of us in (we …

We thought we put a wrong address on Google maps as it was taking us to a train station and only to realise we were actually in a converted building. Awesome experience as the private ensuite room was just enough for our family of 4 (2 …

No ventilation in the room, congested and light from the railway platform disturbs if you want to open curtains to get little air. Poorly designed building and no care has been taken of aesthetics and essentials needed for a comfortable …

Nice and clean, great kitchen for self-catering. Staff friendly and helpful. We had a great time climbing in Meldon Quarry and abseiled off the viaduct. A room for four was fairly priced and we were able to get onto the moor easily every …
