Reviews for THE BIRD BOX, OKEHAMPTON

Very upset with my stay at the bird box. My partner booked it for a proposal for our 3 year anniversary and now it will have negative feelings attached to the special moment. None of the doors had locks and the upstairs door doesn’t close properly so there was a cold breeze throughout the night. The hot tub also is not very close to where you are staying and is up a pitch black slippery path way so make sure you take your phone for a torch otherwise you will fall over like I did. We also had our neighbours walk through multiple times when we was using the Hot tub which made us feel uncomfortable and ruined the privacy that we thought we would have. The bed is very hard and I slept very badly, and now have returned home with an illness because of the lack of insulation in the bedroom throughout the night. Being woken up on Saturday & Sunday to the local football match noises was far from the relaxation I thought I would be getting, the water is also temporary and the hot water lasts about 2 minutes so either myself or my partner would have to go without a warm shower. To say I am upset and disappointed is an understatement definitely will not be returning here again.

Had the yurt booked from canopy & stars sadly wasn’t available and was a bit torn on this.
But got moved to the bird box instead and really enjoyed our stay - hot tub was broken too but it was rainy and windy so probably wouldnt have ended up using it.
All in all was a good trip.

We actually stayed in Heather Cottage which is in the same plot . Fantastic and beautifully cosy cottage with a lovely fire, perfect for cold evenings. The hot tub is amazing. Being outside under the trees and surrounded by forest just makes it extra relaxing and it's definitely a highlight. The surrounding area is stunning but extremely hilly if you don't have a car so be warned. The Tors Inn is within 5 miles and is a great hike with plenty of amazing scenery to take in whilst you enjoy a pint.

Actually stayed in the Humble Bee. Photos on Canopy and Stars look great but still don't do this human beehive justice. Absolutely stunningly gorgeous building and surroundings and designed and built solely by the owners, who are extremely nice and very helpful. Can't wait to go back. Also have a yurt. Well worth a visit.
